Refining an Idea: Soul Calibur MMV (2005)

Long has this plot piqued my interest, but the logistics of it frustrate many attempts at it. Part of it is narrowing the characters down. 

The basic premis picks up on Spawn's ending on Soul Calibur 2, where he tosses the blade into the time vortex--it re-appears in New York in 2005, begining the cycle over again.

The first thing that needs to be done is to decide who to add and who to remove: The cast list stands as such, in no order:

1) Buffy Summers (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) - Seeks to Destroy Soul Edge
2) Faith Lehane (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) - Seeks to Destroy Soul Edge
3) Ashley Williams (Army of Darkness/Evil Dead) - Seeks to Destroy Soul Edge before Necronomicon combines with it.
4) Deadite Ash (Army of Darkness) - seeks to comibe Necronomicon with Soul Edge.
5) Batgirl - Cassandra Cain (DC Comics)  - Seeks to end the seasless conflicts
6) The Paper - Yomiko Readman (Read of Die) - Seeks to apture or destroy the Soul Edge
7) The Witchblade - Sarrah Pezzini (Top Cow Comics) - seeks to calm the area down.
8) The Darkness - Jackie Espesito (Top Cow Comics) - sees the blade as a source of power or a wild card to be dealt with.
9) The Magdalena - Patience (Top Cow Comics) - Seeks to destroy the blade and the demonic beings that see it.
10) Hellboy - (Film version) - Seeks to destroy the blade.
11-12) Cassandra Hack and Vlad -- (Hack/Slash) - chasing after the Slashers hunting the blade.
13) Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th series) - Working at the behest of deranged cultists.
14) Freddy Krueger (Nightmare on Elmstreet series) - Hopes to use Soul Edge to bring his dream powers into the waking world. 
15) Blade - Eric Brooks - Hopes to use the Soul Edge to rid the world of Vampires.
16) Jackie Chan (Jackie Chan Adventures)- seeks to Destroy the Soul Edge.
17) Yaut'ja Hunter (Predator series) - Seeks the ultimate trophy and ultimate hunt.
18) Kamen Rider - Hongo Takeshi (Kamen Rider series) - Seeks to destroy the soul edge to the Nazi's cannot get it. 
19) Ichigo Kuroaski (Bleach) - seeks to cleans/destroy Soul Edge
20) The Ravager - Rose Wilson (DC Comics) - Seeks to destroy the Soul Edge as a redemptive act. 
21) Duncan McCloud (Highladner the Series) - believes the supernatural killer using Soul Edge to be an Immortal.
22) Spawn - Al Simmons (Image Comics) - Hopes to finish what he started when he first encountered Soul Edge. 
23) El Hijo Del Santo - Seeks to Destroy Soul Edge.
24) Go-Go Yubari (Kill Bill) - Seeks the Soul Edge to help her get revenge on Beatrix Kiddo. 
25) Captain Jac Sparrow (Pirates of the Caribean) - Hopes the Soul Edge can finally end his immortal life, or that something after the Soul Edge can. 
26) Teal'c (Stargate SG-1) - Believes the Soul Edge to be Alien Technology.
27) Nightmare/Night Terror - Fuel the Soul Edge.
28) Cervantes - Reclaim the Soul Edge.
29) Albert Wesker (Resident Evil series) - Analyze the Soul Edge and see if it will be of any use.  
30) Demona (Gargoyles) - Seeks the Soul Edge as a component to rid the world of humans. 

Things on the table to be added from the list include:

Cast of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (comics, largely. Not the Cartoon.). 
Cast of Bleach (how many and who of Ichigo's allies will accompany him?)
Cast of Gargoyles (Goliath is almost a given, but will anyone else try and stop Demona from aquiring the Soul Edge?). 
Batman supporting cast and villains (should Batman or Robin show up? How about the uber-martial artist Prometheus?)
Should other Vampire Slayers appaer beyond cameos?
Who else who is active around the year 2005 should be included?

Once that is settled, the question then becomes?
Who should battle who? What Destined Battles should be touched upon?

And most importantly: Who faces Inferno?

Keep in mind that I can actually fit all of the mentioned characters into a single, logically consistant universe (don't ask how--seriously, it's League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (comic) level stuff), so do me a real big favor and include only folks who can 'fit' logically with the at least 2 of the mentioned characters.

Answer as many questions as you'd like.

Goliath is almost a given, but will anyone else try and stop Demona from acquiring the Soul Edge?

I'd say if you have Demona pursuing Soul Edge you should have MacBeth in there. Either competing with her, he went after Excalibur after all or, if he learned his lesson then, trying to stop her from getting Soul Edge.

Should other Vampire Slayers appear beyond cameos?

Short answer, no. Longer answer, I'm not sure you need two Slayers from the Buffy'verse much less more. I'd go with one Buffy'verse Slayer out to destroy Soul Edge eventually facing Blade for a throw down over whether destroying Soul Edge or vampires is more important.

Who should battle who? What Destined Battles should be touched upon?

Well, there are same canon pairs there people might expect you to do like Ash vs Deadite Ash or Witchblade vs Darkness. I already mentioned I'd skip Buffy vs Faith and go with Buffy vs Blade. I also mentioned that I'd personally expect if not outright Demona vs MacBeth at least MacBeth being present in the story. *Looks at list trying to pick out some more x-over versus that look like they might work.* The Magdalena, if she might not recognize Hellboy is a good guy right off might throw down with him. Yaut'ja Hunter vs Teal'c might reinforce Teal'c's believe the Soul Edge is Alien Technology. The Ravager seeking redemption vs Go-Go Yubari seeking revenge might work. Duncan MacLeod vs Captain Jack Sparrow, and/or Captain Jack Sparrow vs Cervantes could be a lot of fun. That's it for me on the idea front this morning. Hope something in there was helpful.

*Smiles softly.* Thanks. I know I said Buffy vs Blade but Faith vs Blade might be better given Faith's history. Of course I don't know which one you'd be more comfortable writing. I wish I knew more of the fandoms in the list so I could give you more ideas about how the characters might match up. As it is I don't know the Magdalena or The Ravager I just picked them out for those matches from what you said about their motives for going after Soul Edge. x_x

Oh, have you tried posting this over at allcrossovers (http://community.livejournal.com/allcrossovers/profile)? I don't know if you'd get responses over there, but it is another comm that's friendly to crossovers, and talking about them not just posting them. :)

The original reason for both Buffy and Faith to have entries (and no Angel characters) involves the setting of the story--the canonical comic series, and I didn't want to post a recent spoiler.

As for the obscure characters, yeah, that is a problem--but one with a very strange basis, so I enjoy it.

I think I shall post it to allcrossovers as well.
