[identity profile] ebookworm.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] crossoverfic
I'm new to this community, so I hope you'll forgive me if this kind of thing isn't exactly allowed. I think it is but, as I said, I'm new and (thus) ignorant...

I have an idea for a fic I'd like to see written. Sadly, I lack the talent, so I thought I'd release the plotbunny here and hope some more talented writer would be bitten by it.

The idea is for a crossover/merge of 'House, MD' and 'The Sentinel'. It requires a pretty good knowledge of both TV shows.

Move the pilot episode of 'The Sentinel' forward about ten years, so that it occurs in 2006, not 1996. (Sometime during Season 2 of 'House, MD'.) So, shortly after a solitary, week-long stake-out, Detective Jim Ellison of the Cascade PD begins to experience debilitating sensory episodes and even occasional fugue states. He goes to see several doctors in Cascade, none of whom can help him. Eventually, though, one of them refers him to a diagnostic specialist - possibly the best diagnostician in the country - Dr. Gregory House at Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital in New Jersey.

Meanwhile, Blair Sandburg, a graduate student at Princeton University, is beginning to despair of ever completing his anthropology PhD, and talks of its subject to one of his girlfriends, a nurse who works at PPTH...

What do you think? Any 'Sentinel'/'House' writers out there?

Intriguing, but IMHO what's the point of having House there if one is going to have Blair come in and solve everything immediately? More interesting if Blair isn't there, or at least, doesn't come into the picture so soon or in the same way.

Don't let me stop you if you want to write it that way.

Alas, I think a full-blown House story would be too difficult to write; I'd need a medical consultant.

Do you think House could figure out what was 'wrong' with Jim? He's a medical genius, yes, but Jim doesn't actually have a *disease*...

Well, one could argue that it is a disease in the sense that it is preventing him from working normally.
It's just not the kind of disease that can be cured by pills. 8-)

I'd be more interested in a story which House and his unfortunate underlings (unfortunate because they're HIS underlings) have to deal with trying to save this person under the protective custody of the police, who was transferred there from Cascade because whatever is killing him is something the higher ups were told probably only House could deal with. And part of the guard are the team of Ellison and his partner Blair. And House has to deal with periodic input from Jim and Blair who may not be a doctor but who is all too a match for his intellect.

And the lovely Doctor Cuddy could end up sleeping with Jim (*gasp* A story which is not auto-slash?!) because wouldn't it be friggin' nice if the damned genes were passed on?! She has been wanting to get pregnant, after all.
