That was fantastic. I have to first admit that I'm not a huge Anita Blake fan. I dropped the series partway through Obsidian Butterfly because I was getting fed up with the continued evolution of Super!Anita. That being said, I loved your story. You made Anita, who Hamilton made me absolutely despise, likable and sympathetic.
And there were some fascinating hints as to the history and the current affairs of Earth-That-Was.
