Veronica Mars/ Gossip Girl Crossover!
Title: Recognition
Pairings/ Characters: Veronica, Blair, Vanessa
Author: Eliza Ann
Word Count: 1096
Disclaimer: I would die of awesome if I owned either Veronica Mars or Gossip Girl, but I'm still breathing, so I obviously don't.
Rating: K
Warnings: Nothing, oh crap, there's nothing. I need some violence or swearing or something! But seriously folks this is clean, which is seriously lowering my ego.
Spoilers: IMPORTANT: Let's just pretend that season one of Gossip Girl and season two of Veronica Mars take place around the same time, instead of a few years apart. Spoilers for season one of Gossip Girl and seasons one and two of Veronica Mars.
Summary: Alone in New York for a few days, Veronica finds herself at a little café in Brooklyn, where she meets some people who don't get along all that well. I'll give you a hint, their names rhyme with Slair and Banessa.
A/N: I admit it, I screwed the timeline over, I apoligize, but I couldn't help it.
A/N2: GG's on now and don't have time to think of anything, so just review, please!

She wasn’t Carrie. That much evident by the way she spoke. Admittedly, Carrie Bishop was stuck up, but the dark haired girl sitting across the café from Veronica took the gold in being a snob.

Even if she wasn’t the high school classmate Veronica wasn’t very fond of, didn’t mean she didn’t look exactly like her. Carrie’s hair was lighter and had a slight red tinge, this girl’s was a dark, chocolaty brown.

“I said I wanted a small amount of foam. As in not a lot, and this- ” she pointed to the contents of her small coffee cup. “This is a lot of foam. Too much, in fact, and I can’t drink this.”

Veronica rolled her eyes as she walked in the door and over to the counter. She was in Brooklyn, weren’t the snooty, rich people absent in this part of town. Apparently not. She took this vacation for a reason. Maybe the main reason was that it was her graduation gift, but anything that gets her out of Neptune is wonderful to Veronica.

“God Blair, it’s foam, it’s not gonna kill you.” The Barista rolled her eyes at the girl in front of her - Blair - who just continued to huff. The rolling of eyes seemed to be the most common reaction to her in this part of town.

“Look Vanessa,” she spat the name out like some kind of poison that she desperately needed to wash out of her mouth. Veronica didn’t see anything wrong with it, she thought Vanessa was a pretty name.

Blair continued once she was rid of the poisonous name. “If you want to, you can drink foam to your hearts desire. But some of us have a figure to maintain, and can only do so with a sugar free, fat free, half-caf vanilla latte, with a little bit of foam.”

“Once your dress size gets into the negatives, I think your in the clear.”

Veronica figured these two people must know each other fairly well if they were quarreling like this.

Either that or the class war was worse in New York. Worse than Neptune? That’s a joke, right?

“Just make me another, okay, that is your job, isn’t it?”

Vanessa grumbled inaudibly, but compiled. “Well, who’s gonna pay for the one I already made? It’s a waste of supplies.”

They then engaged in what seemed to be a ‘bitching without words’ contest. Blair gave Vanessa expressions that looked to say: ‘You don’t expect me to do something like that, do you?’

Vanessa’s looks were simpler, more like: ‘Pu-lease.’ Veronica decided she should intervene.

“You know what,” She grabbed the rejected latte off the counter and glanced inside to see a fairly large amount of foam. “I love foam with a passion! Honestly, foam and I, were best buds.” She slipped a 10 onto the counter, and Vanessa got her change with a smile.

“Are you sure you can handle it? It’s a lot of foam.” She imitated Blair batting her eyelashes and raising her voice.

“Don’t worry. If my dress size gets out of the negatives I‘ll be sure to throw a temper tantrum.” Veronica returned the smile, glancing at Blair. “I’m Veronica, by the way.”

“Vanessa,” She held out her hand and the blonde shook it. “And the lovely, young lady to my right is Blair.”

She gave a small wave in Blair’s direction, and she returned it with a kind of fake smile. It also seemed kind of amused.

“Not that it’s any of my business, not that that ever stops me,” Veronica began. “But this doesn’t exactly seem like the part of town you’d be hanging out in.” She addressed Blair with her query.

Blair gave her a disapproving look, but answered anyway. “You’re right, that isn’t any of your business, but I’ll humor you. I’m supposed to meet a friend and her boyfriend here. Though, why they chose this unfortunate little place, I have no idea.” She glared at Vanessa. “Well, I have some idea.”

Then Blair looked at Veronica again and something registered on her face.

“Hey, do I know you from somewhere? You look really familiar.”

“No, I don’t!” Veronica said this much too quickly, and she realized this a few seconds too late. The two girls with her lifted their eyebrows and Vanessa squinted.

“You know, you do look kind of familiar.” She said still examining the blonde’s face.

“I told you,” Blair says matter-of-factly. “Are you on TV or something? What’d you say your name was again?”

“Veronica,” She looked expectant and Veronica realized she was missing half of it. “Mars, Veronica Mars.”

Blair repeated the name over and over again to herself, Veronica could see it, a whisper on her lips.

It’s not that she was trying to hide out from people who might recognize her from every news channel’s top story a few days ago, she just didn’t particularly want to be recognized. The story featured a murderous teenage boy and the young teenage girl he almost shot on top of The Neptune Grande Hotel. The same girl that was rescued by another teenage boy who saved her life but couldn’t stop the first teenage boy from throwing himself off the building, onto the skull-shattering pavement below.

She was not in the mood to be berated with questions about Cassidy, not that she ever was.

“Wait a second!” Blair started what could only be called a brisk walk, because god forbid she run, over to the front of the little café. Veronica glanced at the girl left with her who just shrugged her shoulders.

Blair came back with a magazine looking over it excitedly. On the cover was a picture of Veronica and Logan standing in front of the Neptune Grande. She had tearstains on her face and was looking overly tired. It was a shot of that night. Next to it was a picture of Cassidy, probably his yearbook picture from the looks of it. Big bold letters were spread across the cover saying “Logan Echolls Rescues Ex-Girlfriend, Veronica Mars, From Homicidal Classmate Cassidy Casablancas!”

“Oh, goody.” Veronica Winced.

Blair pointed excitedly at the cover. “That’s you! Oh my god, that’s you isn’t it? Isn’t it?”

Vanessa just stared at her, awaiting the answer.

Veronica sighed. “Yeah, I guess it is."

Your dialogue was great and you made me love Vanessa and Blair almost as I love Veronica, which is almost impossible!
