"Xander, escort your fiancée and Mr. Chase safely home." He looked at his charge. "Prepare for the eventuality of another attempt. Until you hear from me, and me alone, nobody is to gain entrance to the house, understood?"
Xander kept his arm around Willow's shoulders while he looked to Angel. "Of course, sir."
Cordelia delicately cleared her throat, and sent Angel a speaking glance.
Angel looked at Cordelia, and he nodded again as he looked to Xander. "Don't shoot Miss Chase if she happens to want to enter her own house, either."
Xander shrugged and suppressed a smile. "If you insist, sir."
"Oh, very generous," Cordy snorted, and took Mr Angel's arm. "Thank you so much."
Willow giggled. Mr. Chase looked most disgruntled. "Do I get a say in this?"
Every other person in the room turned to him, in unison, and said, "No." Willow did append a 'sir,' as well.
"I trust Mr. Chase's carriage will get you there safely enough," Angel said. He looked at Cordy. "Miss Chase, we've not a moment to lose." He smiled at her, his eyes flashing with the excitement of the hunt. "Shall we?"
"At once," she agreed. "Be safe, you three," she commanded over her shoulder, borrowing Rogue's phrase as Angel swept her out of the room.

Rogue sat at the edge of the bed, the sheet around her like a toga, and watched him dress. The beauty of his form was the same as ever, but there was a harshness to his movements; the same grace gone feral somehow, and a coiled intensity that was most worrisome. "Be careful," she whispered as he finished.
Remy turned back, and flashed her the same light, charming smile he had when he first asked her to dance. He bowed gracefully, sweeping his arms out. "Your wish is dis one's command, chere." He stood and took in her beautiful face, and gave a wink. "Pack, chere. By dawn, we start new lives!" With that, he turned and moved for the door, his face turning hard with determination once again.
Rogue watched him go, somehow not as reassured as she wished she could be, and when he was gone, she rose to bathe, and dress, and pack.
