In plain speak:  I don’t own anything, just my imagination.

Summary:  Drusilla made a new family

Grief

It happened on a Friday, not Tuesday.  That was a big surprise.  Buffy tearfully clung to Angel, grieving for the sister she failed to protect.  Vengeance was demanded and he halted her with logic.  His job was done, but instincts ran deep, despite his new condition.  Spike had been her only Childe, why Make new?  And why choose one of the most successful Hunter teams?  Dawn’s addition to the ranks of Childer brought out wisps of memory.  The phone rang and tears of rage  and relief blended with disbelief.  Human ears could only pick out bare hints of conversation.

“WHAT??!!”

13

Mandate

“You have a soul.”

“Yes.  So do Sam and Dean.  Well, Sam anyway, Dean has just a little of his.”

“The Hunters she turned?”

“Yep.”  The ‘p’ popped and Buffy’s heart clenched at the familiar sound.  Could it still be Dawnie?

“Why did she do it?”  Her pain-filled whisper didn’t fail to touch and Dawn explained.  No prophecy, just visions sent through two powerful Seers.  There had been temptation to allow it, but Dru had made an unknowing vow to Spike and set the wheels in motion.

A conference was held in the new WCoA.  “No one touches Dawn.”

14

Changes

“Why doesn’t our soul burn?”

“Your demons did not shed innocent blood dearie.”

“Why didn’t you get one?”  Incredulous laughter; Sam blushed.

Dawn tugged his hair.  “Imagine Dru after suffering the guilt of almost two hundred years of carnage.”

“Never would have got the drop on us if she had.”  Dean moved into the room, looking every inch the predator he was born to be and he straddled Dawn, nipping at her throat.  She met his wicked smirk with one of her own, the innocent façade falling away to reveal the essence inherited from the Slayer.  “We’ve got a job.”

15

Surprise

Something’s eating the livestock!”  The argument was circular.  Except for the devoured cattle, none saw evidence of a supernatural creature.  The killings stopped.  They waited a month.  Dru knew she was hiding something, but she kept it quiet, trusting Dawn’s decision.  There were flashes of ginger, slow words and a soft voice.  The men caught on and followed their youngest to an abandoned barn, a van hidden inside.  It rocked and growled as she sang to it.  They weren’t stealthy and she whirled to defend, drawing down on them for the first time.

Green eyes screamed defiance, “I’m keeping him.”

16

Friend

Panic rose.  Predators were close.  Too close.  No matter that he was one himself.  Two familiar scents tantalized.  No, one tantalized, smelling of home, the other terrified.  Why together?  Two more scents arrived and the threat increased.

“I know you’re awake.”  The voice eased the terror and he peeked.  Yep, this was bad.  Four vampires in the room with him.  All of them powerful.  One was certifiable.  So tired of running, no safe haven for one such as him.  Too many slayers in the world.  You could trip over one in almost every major city.

“Open your eyes.”

“Dawn?”

“Oz.”

17

Bonding

Jealousy flared at the attention she paid him.  They didn’t understand he was not a threat.  Spike and Oz had been the only non-familial oasis of steadiness and calm in her world.  She hated Willow for driving him away.  His body was tired from constant running.  Winchesters ignored him until Oz pulled out his guitar.  His fingers were magic and Dean laughed with glee when strains of ‘Wherever I May Roam’ drifted out from the back of his van.

“Where I lay my head is home!”  All were shocked that Dean could actually sing.

Men bonding over Metallica, recognition... Finally.

18

Pack

Ice was broken and Oz proved his worth with research and muscle.  Citing his Tibetan teachings, he refused to kill another creature except in defense.  But he was their eyes and ears during the day.  He was their scout, searching for unobtrusive locales to hide from the sun.  Money made through lucrative gigs was donated to the pot.  Calls were made and a werewolf was added to the Watcher’s Non-interference list.  The Scoobies had been shocked and then ashamed.  Apologies offered and Oz showed his graciousness by accepting, but remained with The Scourge.  They acknowledged him and they were Pack.

19

Hunted

Ellen knew why they were coming.  He claimed to be a Hunter and knew their ways, but he stunk of deceit and sat in the corner, a figure avoided.  One call.  He was on the Slayers’ list and those who placed their life in danger for him would forfeit it.  He had harmed one of their own and vengeance was sought.  The horrors the man inflicted on others would not be tolerated, regardless of their nature.  Oz was a good kid.

The news had spread fast and no refuge was offered.

A familiar voice bellowed through the open windows.  “Cain!!”

20

Coward

She shouldn’t have been surprised at the man’s choice.  Only someone who had no honor would drug a creature and skin it alive for profit.  That he chose to eat a bullet instead of facing his fate was little surprise.  The weapon barked and there was an angry, “Son of a BITCH!” in response.  The men gathered at the back, guarding Ellen and she hollered, “Dean Winchester, get your sorry ass in here and clean up this mess!”  He came through the door, followed by Sam and two women Ellen had never seen before.  That familiar smirk flashed.

“Hello Ellen.”

21

Pickles

The Hunters stayed at the far end of the room to watch out for Ellen.  The trash was removed and drinks poured.  Drusilla was quiet, flanked by Sam and Dean in case someone got twitchy.  Dawn insisted on eating and the men groaned.  Ellen soon figured out why.  Vampire eating human food?  Strange enough.  Applesauce on a bloody raw steak was down right revolting.  And strawberry ice cream covered with peanut butter and dill pickles.  Dawn winked at Ellen.  “Watch.”

She sauntered up to the men and purred, reaching up for a kiss.  They bolted.  Apparently, vampires can turn green.

22

Curiosity

The girl was a curiosity.  Perky California college girl persona masked a powerful predator.  But the humanity in her eyes was equal to Sam’s and it was a puzzle.

“Can’t explain it.”  Dawn answered Ellen’s curiosity.  “Vision from Dru confirmed by Prophecy boy said I was dying.  The only way to save me was to turn me.  Those three were the only ones not surprised I kept my soul.”

“How’s Oz?”

Grief and anger flashed gold.  “Xander took care of him while we hunted down Cain.  We’ll pick him up soon.  The healing is slow until the drugs wear off.”

23

Panic

Leaving was unavoidable because of who they were.  Not that she understood.  Her mother had made him promise to keep it a secret.  To put a human face on the monster could prove fatal.  Another woman Oz left to protect.  He dreamed of soft shimmering hair and Halston scented skin.  Eyes darkened by hurt haunt him.  None but Dawn knew.

A whiskey rough voice filled with panic chilled him bone deep.

“Please come.”

He was there in two days.  He’ll not leave her behind again.  Leaping the newly constructed steps, Oz burst through the door, her name a prayer, “Jo!”

24

Jo

Dawn caught van keys and stared.  Oz wore stolen leathers and she wondered where the owner of the Ninja was.

“What?”

“Gotta book.”

“Why?”

“Ellen called.”

“Where the fuck’s he goin’?”

“Jo’s hurt.”

“I’m comin’ with.”  Dean jumped back as eyes flashed gold and a mouthful of teeth snarled before the Were’ sped off.

“The hell?”

“Jerk!”  Dawn told Dean about the summer Oz spent at the Roadhouse and why he had to leave.   “He loves her!”

Dean reconciled the timeline and grimaced.  “So I was revenge?”

“Only if you fucked her.”

Laughing.  “I’m not that stupid.”

25

Wolf

An inch decided for life.  The claw marks trailed from neck to breast and Oz thought her chest rising with each indrawn breath was the most beautiful sight.  As if sensing his regard her eyes opened and widened with shock and happiness.

“I left to protect you.”

“You can’t stop me from Hunting.”

“You can’t hunt during the full moon.”

Her denial was heartbreaking.

He leaned in to breathe in her ear, “I can smell the change in you.  I know you can feel it, feel me.”

“Why didn’t you tell me before?”

“To protect you.”

“From what?”

“My wolf.”

26

Harsh

Dean thought they were silly, with their soft smiles and furtive glances.  His hair dripped beer when he suggested they just get it over with.

“You have no romance Dean.”

“That’s why we have Sammy.”

“Oh?  Thought I was hot chick bait?”

Dean gave him a disgusted glare and stalked off as they all laughed.

He approached Oz later and offered a beer.  They drank in silence for a while.

“Dude, I didn’t know.”

“Yeah.”

“We only flirted, nothing else.”

“That’s why you still have your head.”

“Harsh dude.”

“Way of the Wolf man.”

Dean snorted beer.  “You said Wolfman.”
