Since I'm DVD-commentarying two of my weird ones, I'm going to throw out another author's crossover:

"Lovers and Dreamers," by Alexia Eve. Muppets/Smallville. Lex Luthor buys Muppet Theatre, and chaos ensues. Or, to quote Kermit: "We have a pig who's head-over-hoofs in love with our new boss, talking corn who insulted him, an oddly violent scarecrow, and a missing billionaire! I'd say panicking is a valid choice." Silly as anything, some implied slash (but mild), and nearly had me on the floor laughing.

just passing by ^_^ awhile ago, a friend and I were discussing bizarre crossovers, and we challenged each other to write the weirdest one we could come up with. i ended up doing HP/ Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? and it's... decent, if, well, bizarre.

Hm. Thinking about it, most of the odd crossovers I know of are more the type you wouldn't think of yourself, but in retrospect, yeah, that makes sense. But here's a few that are at least... different.


* Undeath And The City (http://rosie.acmecity.com/happy/324/undeath.txt): "A Forever Knight/Sex And The City crossover. Carrie & Co. travel to Toronto to get away from their dead love lives, and find more than they bargained for. Samantha picks up a PR job to promote a club owned by 'a man of impeccable taste.' Charlotte meets her 'Mr. Classic.' Miranda begins to wonder if she has a 'thing' for bartenders. Carrie can't stop being haunted by 'Mr. Big,' despite finding some big distractions. Because of the nature of Sex And the City, this fanfic is intended for adults only. Some language and situations may be inappropriate for the young or prudish." * On The Outside (http://www.angelfire.com/pa2/lyricwheel/crossover/killa8.html): Highlander/The Matrix. Beautiful, oddly appropriate, and entirely too short.

* A Gathering of Angels (http://www.7parabian.com/Maygra/Musings/hlfiction/angels.html): "Death on a Horse and the Angel of Death seem to have some things in common." (Highlander/Touched by an Angel)

* Up in the Valley (http://www10.brinkster.com/amandr/fiction/mountain.html), Down on the Mountain : "Methos visits the Old Kirke Mansion, and falls straight on through the back of the wardrobe....sort of" (Highlander/Chronicles of Narnia)

* Adjustments (http://www.livejournal.com/community/random_hundreds/30733.html) came out of random_hundreds, and despite being a snippit, is oddly likable. LotR/PotC.


One I've only heard about that sounds interesting is a BtVS/Matrix crossover; Sunnydale as a locus of system glitches and the Slayer as a very strange kind of Sentinel. It's one of those "It's just crazy enough to work!" but I've never found the actual story, just the rumor thereof. Now that would be memorably strange.

I actually read "A Gathering of Angels," and despite the unlikeliness of it, it all came together wonderfully. That's one I can see myself going back to read time and time again.
