Buffy/Highlander Crossover
Jan. 2nd, 2005 11:37 pmI was revising this tonight to go on my webpage and decided to toss it up here, so I can be more than just a passive viewer of this community.
Title: Light Such A Candle
Author:
ladyslvr
Rating: PG. Maybe PG-13.
Summary: Dru's birthday present is long for this world.
Feedback: Always
Notes: This story is set sometime prior to the Buffy episode "What's My Line - Part 2." It is in response to a challenge to write a crossover with the big Revelation of Secrets done in character. The Highlander character is an OC. This story also assumes that the Quickening will affect vampires in much the same way holy water does, hence the reason that we never canonically see vampires keeping Immortals as self-perpetuating food sources.

Date: 2005-01-06 06:56 am (UTC)It's always such a challenge to capture Dru, so many people have trouble with balancing the right amount of madness with lucidness, but you pulled it off splendidly. It's a very apt description of Dru, completely in character, and shows how much she knows, either instinctually or from experience or sight, about Immortals. She knows what the young man is and delivers him to his fate in typical Dru "be careful what you wish for" fashion.
*claps delightedly*

Date: 2005-01-06 10:50 am (UTC)Technically it got started at the TP Dinner. Kathryn, Beth and I were conversing about the difficulties of crossovers and how to do the Big Reveal, and I started mimicing Drusilla explaining the concepts of Immortality. The actual story didn't get written until last July during the challenge meme that was circulating. An early draft was posted to my LJ then.
It's wonderful!
*blushes* Thanks.
It's tricky to write Dru without turning her into a child or an idiot. She's a lot more lucid and adult than most fan writers give her credit for, though she definitely has her moments. Getting her voice to stay consistent was very difficult, so it's nice to hear that I may have pulled it off :) The last line gave me the most trouble. Dru finished the story with dozens of different comments before this draft.
