“I don’t want to be like you, Damon, I never will. I’m not meant to be here, I came to the wrong time.”
I was cursing the damn time turner, with a slip of my fingers I was trapped in the past with a famous vampire as my capturer (wanting to sink those teeth in my flesh), with no escape but death.
(but my death won’t be filled with sweet sleep instead with the blood of the innocent)
“I see as my lucky day, Hermione Granger, because I found someone that I want to turn. Now that is very rare, darling, but you deserve it more than Lewis ever did.”
Despite how hard he tried to hide it the hurt was still fresh from Stefan's betrayal, the scars were still fading away where he stabbed him in the back, and his rehab is condemning another soul.
(if Stefan was here he would save me from this soulless life)
“Do I have any choice in this?”
If he did give me a choice in my own death, wishing I had my wand so I could end this all in a matter of seconds, I would not be joining his undead family.
(facing death far too many times have prepared me for this moment)
“None whatsoever, because when I find something I want, I take it, little girl.”
When he went for my exposed neck, my life flashing before eyes and finding it funny that I would die like this (becoming a monster like the ones I’ve fought), a flash of sunlight sent him flying.
(if vampire hunters had that sunlight spell they would kill those bastards off pretty fast)
“Do not put your filthy hands on her, you beast!”
Out of the shadows came my saving grace, Harry Potter (no doubt with a few hundred following him), and I’d never been so damn happy to see him.
(Damon was ash)
“A friend of yours, my love? I suggest you tell the little boy to hurry on home before I make him the first thing you eat on our wedding night.”
I couldn’t keep myself from smiling, knowing that even a great vampire like Damon didn’t hold a candle to the ‘little boy’ before him, and that made him finally start to worry.
(all those wedding plans for nothing)
“I’m no little boy; I’m your worst nightmare.”
Harry used a fire spell on him and before the fireball even hit Damon knew that he wasn’t going to win this one, and before he burned up he whispered his last words to me.
(acting like I was his one great love when to me he was just a monster)
“My love, you were going to be my greatest creation, my other half. It’s such a pity.”
Those damn words should have no hold on me, but years from then I would still hear them in my dreams that are filled with a future that could have been.
“Ready to get the hell out of this messed up century, Hermione?”
I grabbed Harry’s hand glad that in a few moments I would finally be out of this damn century (hoping never to see a wedding ever again).
“Hell yes and thank you Harry for not letting me be turned into a vampire bride. That was pretty brilliant of you.”
“I owed you, Granger; I doubt I will ever stop owing you.”
