“Why are you hiding in the closet like a lost child, River Tam? I know you are much more than your delicate form shows, even if it is pleasing to gaze upon.”
I reach out to the girl hoping that a smile and a few silver-tongued words will be all I need to take hold of her body and mind, but as she stood to meet me I knew it would be more challenging.
(she met my gaze head on mimicking my smirk and caused me to almost lose my composure)
“Silly, gods, (puny god, oops that will drive him mad), I am not hiding from you, Mr. pointy ears. I am hiding from the lovely purple skinned man who has been seduced by death herself.”
She slaps away my open hand like I’m nothing but an insect bothering her, using my own tricks on me as if she’s the one who came up with them, and waits on tip toes to see what I will do next.
“Do you not fear me, little girl? Not even a little bit?”
All that got me was a childish giggle that hurt my pride more than I wish to reveal, but it was easy to tell that she did not fear me in the slightest as those curious eyes studied me from top to bottom.
(missing the days when I could make people fear me and love me at the same time)
“I should say yes, so I do not hurt your feelings, Loki. My brother says doing that is wrong, but no you do not. I do however fear your choice in clothing, you remind me of a cartoon villain.”
“What if I offered to shield you from Thanos, would you pretend to somewhat fear me?”
With my offering of peace, which was hard to state while she was busy playing with my threating horns (slipping the massive helmet over her own tiny head); I hoped it would bring her with me without a fight.
(oh how I enjoy tricking others, and a weapon in the form of a tiny girl would be the perfect one)
“I will quake in my combat boots for you, God, but we have to run, he is hunting me as we speak.”
Before she can dance away from like last time, I was awed by her grace that she slipped from my grasp way too easily; I clamp my hands down on her slender ones.
(not wanting to admit that my own hands are a match for her girlish ones)
“Eww, sweaty trickster hands, I don’t know how I will survive this. It is quite evident why you’ve never ever had a lady friend.”
She rips her fingers free from mine, I was not prepared for the strength that came out of this child before me (like a titan resides under her delicate skin), and makes sure to wipe her hands off in disgust.
(a response I’ve yet to have from any other female, human or god, they tend to wish my hands to be on them)
“Has anyone told you that your blabbering mouth will someday lead to your doom, River?”
I almost dare to cover her mouth to make my point, to show her what I will do the next time she ridicules me (but could never bring myself to ever harm my little dancer) but I know from experience that will only bring a very painful bite.
“All day every day, Norse God, but then they say how priceless I am and how it would be a waste to murder little old me. See it all evens out, Loki.”
