“Who are you?”
Instead of the black cloud of smoke, that turns into a familiar face that treats me like I belong with it (whispering lies in my waiting ears), to come and give me my daily missions a man in a trench coat coming from waterfall stands before me.
(looking at me with so much goddamn pity it starts to hurt)
“I’m an angel of the lord.”
The soft talk of angels and god are a nice replacement for the devil that has been climbing in my bed at night, speaking of murder as if it was his best friend and trying to turn my young mind to the darkness.
(even though the man before does not look like the angels I heard about at bedtime)
“Are you here to punish me or to save me?”
The moment I let myself be sweet talked by the man in black, who spends evenings thinking up stories of how he will kill his dear brother (while mine left me here with this monster), I knew I would end up being punished for my wicked ways.
(when all I ever wanted was Aaron and Charlie, my family back)
“My name is Castiel, and I am here to guide you, Claire.”
His hand reaches out to me, extending his holy hands to this lost creature, and before my master can come and see what I’m about to do I grab on.
(feeling that he is truly a angel in his divine finger tips)
“Guide me where, Castiel?”
With my hands resting comfortably in his toasty fingers I search his face for the devil lurking behind the angel, wondering if I go with him if he’ll end up stabbing me in the back.
(doing the very thing I did to those who left me to rot among the others)
“Away from this island, away from the temptation of evil, and to Aaron, would like me to do that?”
At the mention of my baby boy, when he was stripped away from me a piece of me died in this lost place (the other piece had already withered with Charlie), I couldn’t help but let my blinding hope take me over.
“More than anything in this whole fucked up world of mine.”
“Take my hand.”
“You know you’re the only one that tried to find me, angel, the only one that gave a damn about me.”
“I know, Claire, which was why I was sent, to protect you when no one else would.”
