Summary: “Come with me, River, say you will.”
Rating: PG-13
“Come with me, River, say you will.”
The thick drops of rain water were drenching us, of course only the human was shivering, but I had no desire to take his hand and come in.
(that hand which made innocent men bow down to him)
“Reverse the ritual, Cas, and I’ll go across the universe with you.”
My words, which are chosen with great care hoping he’ll see the warmth hidden inside and decide this world of gods and blood is not for him.
(turn back into the innocent angel I knew and take my hand instead)
“I won’t do that, River, I can’t. I could make you come with me.”
The want was clear in his eyes, the want to grab me and force me into this new world of his, but I knew he couldn’t bring himself to such a thing.
(but soon that thoughtfulness would fade with the rest of his heart)
“But you won’t, Castiel. Come back to me when you decide to become yourself once again.”
Those once warm hands, that had held me with so much care, felt cold against my skin and I knew I would never want to leave with this new creature before me.
“I will come back and I expect you to be ready to leave with me."
With a flash of light he left me standing in the freezing rain, returning to a job that never should have been his, and it was hours later that those Winchester boys took me inside.
