“She beat you up pretty bad, didn’t she?”
I wanted to say the very right thing to mend his broken heart, but I couldn’t even fix my own let alone his.
(that first day it was still a fresh wound but now it was slowly healing)
“And he turned your heart into dust, Peyton. We’re in the same boat, that’s why we need each other more than other.”
My own heart was still pretty mangled, telling myself just how much of a bastard he was always helped, but it seemed like it was in the right hands at the moment.
(and I hope he will be gentle with mine as I am with his)
“Or until they call up back once more.”
Our only fear in this new thing, besides our hearts breaking even more, is the temptation of going back to those who hurt us more than anything.
(I wanted to believe I would not fall back into his warms but I knew that if I had the chance I would not give that up)
“I like to think that by then we’ll be past them, and only want each other.”
“We can only hope, Logan.”
