“I didn’t expect you back so soon, Mr. Queen.”

For the first time in months I found myself in a bar not for the alcohol that works wonders to chance away these pesky demons of mine, but instead for the bar tender.

“Miss Harvelle, I just couldn’t stop myself from coming to see you.”

Ever since that fate filled night, where she scooped up this wounded soldier and placed him on the right track once again, I owe her so goddamn much but right all I have is charming smile and a handful of daisies.

“You must really like me, Ollie, if you waited those long hours for me to get off this lovely job of mine.”

And all that waiting brought me that wide grin of hers, one that had haunted my dreams and would until I had beside me to chance it away, as she took the drooping flowers out of my hands.

Brushing finger tips and yearning for warm palms, the first time I just wanted to hold hands with anyone and as more yellow flowers came each day I would get a taste of those fingers each and every time.
