Crossover fan fic submissions wanted!

Hi guys,

As long-time fan fiction enthusiasts, we’re starting a website dedicated to crossover fan fiction. The site is called FanFic Review. We want your submissions to showcase and reward talented writers among the fan fiction community. The competition guidelines are as follows:

* It must be crossover fan fiction. It can be any genre – video games, TV shows, movies, whatever you like.
* Word limit: 200 – 1000 words (we're not that strict, it can be slightly over)
* Deadline: Friday, 13 November 2010
* To submit your story, email us at submissions@fanficreview.com

All participants will have their stories posted on the site. The top three submissions will win a FanFic Review Award for Outstanding Crossover Fan Fiction with a badge to place on your website.

I'm up to my eyeballs with a Crossover Duology. The first half is already completed and on ff.net. The second half in currently in progress with twelve chapters and counting...

A work in progress is fine. The completed series might be a bit long, but you can just send us several different sections/chapters that you think are your best.

Actually the completed one is much shorter than the WIP...

It's seven chapters at 29, 000 words...

The WIP is twelve chapters long already, and at least 42,000 words and counting...

Hmm... maybe you could just send us the first few chapters of the WIP or the completed one, like a teaser? Then we can link to your profile on ff.net for those who would like to read more of your work. Does that sounds good?

When I submit them, will I simply post the entire first chapter in an email? Or is the procedure a little more complicated than that?

You can attach it in a document or just paste the text, it's up to you. Just remember to include its title, your name or username, ff.net link etc.

I have a few that are quite a bit longer. I would need to look up word counts, but I know they're well over 1000 words for each part.

I might have one or two ficlet/drabbles that I could enter with the current restrictions, though. I'll have to check.

Not necessarily. I was just asking out of curiosity. While I do think that it can be quite interesting to cross universes with as little words as possible (that can be quite effectively done), I also love to read long and elaborate crossovers. So holding a contest for longer fics would be great, because it might be a good way to find fic!

Other questions you might want consider answering (because someone will ask them eventually):

Is RPF allowed? I know you said any genre, but quite a few people still exclude RPF, so it might be a good idea to state this up front.

How are the top three stories chosen? By the admins of the site? Or by votes? Comment count? I can't find anything about that on your site.

We wanted to make the first challenge fairly accessible, so we're open to anything including RPF (as long as it's a crossover). As for the word count, we thought it would be more challenging that way. We would love to eventually hold one for longer fics too!

We don't expect a lot of comments or voting on such a new website, so the first challenge will be decided by the admins. We'll post a review of the winning entry to explain why we chose it. I'll add that to the site now to avoid confusion.

Well if you find any chapters or ficlets that are roughly 1000 words, feel free to send them in. Hopefully we'll have a challenge for longer fics soon.
