Within, Rogue did her best to chivvy Cordy and Willow along, but she was unable to prevent herself from looking back over her shoulder at Remy LeBeau. When she realized her faux pas, she turned her head forward again instantly, chin lifting and spine straight as a sword. The heavy oaken doors swung shut behind all three ladies.
Remy looked at the door for a long moment, lips pursing in thought. Slowly, he turned away from the door, still thinking. The young American was captivating. The memory of her body pressed against his hung in his mind. The look on her face as color rose in her cheeks, the way her eyes flashed with anger just before she’d slapped him. The way she danced. The party carried on, and another lady approached, smiling seductively at him. Remy gave her a polite smile, but his mind already turned again toward Marie, his beautiful Rogue, and how she’d entered his life and so angrily exited again.
