I understand what you mean. I'm not all that familiar with Being Human so i would worry about bringing characters in I don't know about.
Connor- well Connor is a very capable Fighter, his nickname in Quor-Toth (the hell dimension he was raised) was The Destroyer. So that to me states why he's so good. In the show it actually bugged me when Faith beat him- in my opinion a Slayer while a natural fighter would not always be able to win against more seasoned fighters. Connor has 18 years experience in the darkest hell in existence. To me a slayer would have to be very lucky to beat him- Angel beating Connor I could understand- because he has 250 years of experience under his belt. Sorry it always irked me.
Anywho- Connor is a fighter- they would probably need all hands on deck for such a threat and maybe if Connor were to get caught in the crossfire- so maybe some vampires attack Stanford because they agree with Russell- Connor has to fight but his unnatural origins are brought to light. Meaning he leaves to go find Angel.
